Ministry of SMEs and Startups Hosts Job Fair to Address Software Sector Labor Shortage
SEJONG -- On October 28, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) hosted the "Talent Matching Festival for Startups 2024" to address the labor shortage in the software sector. This year’s job fair, marking its fourth anniversary, featured various programs under the theme of a new journey toward becoming a global software powerhouse.
Vice Minister Kim Sung-sup of SMEs and Startup remarked, “I wish both software developers and participating companies find perfect opportunities for each other through the job fair.” He further emphasized, "The Ministry is committed to fostering talent in the software sector and its efforts to mitigate labor shortages by attracting foreign talent from countries such as India and Vietnam."
The job fair began with an opening ceremony and featured a variety of programs, including on-site and virtual recruiting booths, as well as specialized booths for foreign IT talent. To attract a diverse group of young job seekers and recent graduates, the event showcased innovative content targeting millennials and Gen Z. This collaborative effort was hosted by six organizations and associations, which facilitated everything from recruiting companies to matching them with qualified candidates. In total, over 200 companies, 3,000 job seekers, and 20 universities hosting Startup Academies participated in the job fair.
About Startup Academy
The Startup Academy, a program run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, is hosted by 20 local universities and 8 private institutions. Since its inception, the program has been completed by 4,305 young individuals. Notably, 2,043 graduates have secured jobs after graduation.
