The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS, Minister OH Youngju) announced it would commence operating an integrated tech protection team for SMEs from July 1.

An integrated tech protection team is a new project that combines on-site expert consultation on tech protection with an existing tech protection team. It offers expert legal and security advice to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to prevent technology infringement or take remedial measures.

The integrated tech protection team consists of thirteen Technology Protection Officers from 13 regional SMEs and startup offices, as well as 217 technology protection experts. The team will promptly visit SMEs in different regions to offer customized solutions for technology infringement issues for each business.

In particular, to prevent technology infringement, the team will assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by reviewing their security policies and guidelines, providing training on drafting non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and offering help with intellectual property (IP) management and labor management. For companies that have experienced technology infringement, the team will offer consultations on post-infringement remedies, including strategies for handling technology disputes and litigation, as well as legal advice.

The previous programs provided free support for 2 or 3 days, depending on the sector. However, with the new integrated tech protection team, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can now receive free on-site expert consultations for up to 7 days, regardless of the sector.

Companies interested in participating can submit their applications online at the Technology Protection Safety Net website (www.ultari.go.kr). Detailed program information is also available on the website.
